people who are weird about dinosaurs 🤝 people who are weird about pluto

acting like scientific advancements are done out of personal spite and meant to crush their childhoods

dinosaurs being actual interesting animals is still cool, sorry! pluto being a dwarf planet and getting to hang out with all the other dwarf planets is also still cool, sorry!

EXACTLY

Like I’m weird about dinosaurs, too, but in a “I’m so obsessed it’s unhealthy” way. Not in a “my entire worldview will crumble if anything about them changes” way. Like, damn, people!

Pluto being a dwarf planet is okay! (Nonavian) Dinosaurs being real animals, more like birds than anything else, is okay!

Damn!

It really is like that. A little while ago I reblogged a gorgeous stained glass art of the planets, only for some rando to reblog it from me adding some angry nonsense about how they couldn’t support it because it did not feature Pluto. Suddenly having a terrible suspicion I checked the comments on the post and discovered that for their trouble in making this fantastic piece of art, OP was getting absolutely flooded by giant babies whining about fucking Pluto not being with the planets.

like, I know humans are programmed to basically take the worldview they grow up with and stick with it, but we don’t live in a world that accommodates that. An important life skill everyone needs is to accept that change happens, including to themselves, and that’s okay. It’s okay to change your ideas when you get new information. It’s okay to change your worldview when you learn something that challenges it. It’s OKAY. It is all OKAY.

Pluto isn’t a planet. It still exists! It’s still beautiful! It’s still really interesting! It’s okay!

Dinosaurs were birdy! Birds are dinosaurs! Dinosaurs aren’t monsters! They’re really cool anyway! It’s okay! It’s all okay!

The actual problems in the world are people not understanding it and trying to gain too much power, trying to control others. Us learning new things about nature is NOT the problem. Please. Just be okay with change. Change is good. Change is necessary.

It’s all okay. It’ll all be okay. Your childhoods are still intact.

One of the reasons childhood is so “wonderful” is because we’re constantly learning new and exciting things. The best way to get that feeling back as an adult is not to cling to what we learned then, but to learn new things now. I still get that childlike wonderment every time I learn something new about prehistoric life. That could be you!

Just open yourself up to change!

You’ll be okay!

watching a movie at home circa like, 2001 was like

  • put your TV on channel 2 so the VCR will work
  • open up the clamp shell case that held the VHS that has that satisfying crrlikkkkkk
  • put in the movie
  • gdi it has to be rewound
  • press STOP and then rewind because its so much faster that way
  • start the movie and it takes a few seconds for the movie to actually start cause you rewound to the VERY beginning
  • FBI will get you if you illegally distribute or exhibit this movie
  • and then. because you forgot that movies are always so much louder than TV

COMING SOON TO OWN ON VIDEO AND DVD

  • QUICK LOWER THE VOLUME LOWER THE VOLUME LOWER THE VOLUME OH FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Okay crisis averted.
  • although. these ads are kind of quiet. a little hard to hear…..
  • better turn up the volume…

Seto Kaiba propaganda:

*Took over a weapons company and turned it into an industry focused on games

*Built a death theme park to get his revenge against a classmate and staffed it with real killers (later he built an actual theme park and made it free for orphans)

*He stopped someone from firing a gun at him with a card, threw himself outside of a window while holding a briefcase and survived (after waking up from a 6 month coma)

*Took control of a city for a game tournament (later in DSOD it’s implied that he is basically the most powerful individual in the city and that he basically owns it)

*Made the world economy pretty much revolve around card games, made the game of Duel Monsters have real rules for the first time and one could say he has been more important for Duel Monsters than the creator himself. Solid Vision also changed the way the game was played forever, and he made this accessible to everyone thanks to the Duel Disk.

*Made Duel Links

*Created a machine that allowed him to travel to the afterlife (this is as close as being a god a human being can get)

*Was Duel Monsters champion before being defeated by Atem, was a martial arts and soccer champion, defeated a chess master in a game at the age of 10 (he cheated in the manga but it’s still impressive that he wouldn’t notice), can drive any kind of vehicle, knows a bunch of languages, is an hacker, made his own virtual reality game

One could also add that he helped saved the world more than once and that he did this while running a company and raising a child (that he rescued so many times and basically made into the center of his life)

But most importantly:

He did all of this between the ages of 16 (or younger) to 18!! Little more than a child! Which sets him apart from the others in this poll

Among the achievements of his adult life I also want to add that he created the Duel Academy

you guys know you can get USB connectable CD, dvd, and blu-ray players right. and you can buy external hard drives with crazy amounts of space for an amount of money that would make the average person from 2009’s head explode bc of how cheap it is. and if you do this and get ripping software such as handbrake for CDs and DVDs and makeMKV for blurays you can both own a physical copy of whatever media you want and make it accessible to yourself no matter where you are. do you guys know this
